I ran into Andy Appleton’s website on drawar’s gallery and thought it be a good practice site to replicate. The objective is to avoid seeing there markup and stylesheet and doing all that on my own capabilities. Once finished I look at their markup, stylesheet and compare. It’s a trip to see at times how similar standards are used on id’s, classes naming conventions. My thumbs up on Andy’s design and reason as to why I decided to replicate his design.

Leo Roze was a big american football fan and a very giving, nice and all around guy. This was a brief description given to me to come up with ideas for the website logo design. So the thought of using a rose in the design was a fairly easy choice. But as for the football part, that was a bit hard at first to see what I could come up with. Initially I started drawing a huge helmet and having the rose and name on the side of the helmet. After the first draft, I felt that the logo was not representing the ideas that were suppose to be on the design. I went through a lot of drafts before I finally came up with a much more simple, straight forward, clean and clear logo which is what you currently see.

The final design was something I probably would have never thought I’d come up with but had all the elements that were needed to bring together the initial idea for the logo.

My personal blogging website to document random thoughts and talk about topics ranging from web design to thoughts about life. I designed this website with minimal amount of graphics since I wanted the writing to be the main focus. Most of the design elements are bright colors used throughout the website. I went through a couple of iterations before finding the one design that made me feel satisfied with the final decision.

Prototype that I designed from scratch for my employers at the time. The updated version offers classifieds online and find more information about adding classifieds and where to find stand locations for the print version.

The target audience is for business owners who want more exposure to a wider audience and provide them with options other than the print version.

The over all design concept is to find classifieds quicker. By providing a sidebar through out the website gives the user quick access to jump to the particular classified they are looking for. The classifieds on the main content area with have icons to associate them to specific classifieds and provide the details of the different classifieds.

Graphically I kept it very simple in order to make the classifieds readability easy to digest. Colors chosen are the standard colors used for the print version. I chose a brighter background color to bring out the contrast in the content area which has a white background color. This helped maintain focus on the main content area. A live version of the website currently exist on La Subasta’s current website.

ACAIMAGES is a photography agency formed by a friend of mine and myself to combine our skills outside of our regular 9 – 5 jobs. Our goal was to establish ourselves as a local (Houston, Texas) photography agency that provides a variety of topics in photography for local newspapers or media outlets.

My part of the agency was the web development that included everything from markup, web design, graphic design, photo editing and copy of the website content. It was definitely an experience that I will remember for a long time. I had always wanted to create a company and this was the opportunity and as I learned during this experience it’s not always an easy task to take on. But for what I was able to accomplish in such little time and working on this project apart from my regular 9 -5 job, it was all worth it.
